It may be a little premature to plan for a President Barack Obama biopic, but when it’s time, there’s at least one candidate in the running for the lead role: Drake.
During a new episode of Complex News’ 360 with Speedy Mormon, the 44th President praised the artist for his talent to make good music and act as well.
“I will say this — Drake seems to be able to do anything he wants,” Obama says in the interview posted on Wednesday (November 25). “I mean, that is a talented, talented brother.”
Obama recently released his new book A Promised Land, which details a lot of his political life, including being a Senator from Illinois, his famous 2008 presidential campaign and subsequent presidency. Toward the 45-minute mark of the interview, the idea of a biopic about Obama came up.

“One day there will be the Obama biopic,” asks Mormon. “Have you ever thought about who you might want to play you in that biopic?”
Smiling, Obama admits that a few movies have already been portraying him, which he “hasn’t watched the whole” of but has seen clips from. He also says “it’s best for me not to worry too much about how I’m being portrayed in that fictional life, because I’ve got a real life with real responsibilities.” That said he did toy around with the possibility of the Toronto rapper playing him in a biopic.
“If the time comes and he’s ready,” he says, refusing to express an actual preference but admits that “Drake has, more importantly, my household’s stamp of approval. I suspect Malia and Sasha would be just fine with it.”
