Ashanti is rejoicing at the start of 2021 with negative COVID-19 results.
The award-winning Grammy artist shared the news in a post on Instagram on Saturday (Jan. 2) that she received the news just two days shy of the New Year, she is officially free of the coronavirus.
“Feeling grateful 🙏🏽 My parents and I got our negative results back right in time to start off the New Year healthy, happy & loved,” she wrote. “Wishing y’all all an Amazing 202WON. #grateful.”

Ashanti shared last December that she had tested positive for COVID ahead of her scheduled Verzuz event with fellow R&B artist Keyshia Cole.
Taking to her Instagram account the day of the scheduled Verzuz event on Dec. 12, Ashanti posted a message announcing the sad news. “Hey y’all I can’t believe I’m saying this but I tested positive for COVID-19. I’m ok and not in any pain,” she wrote. “I’m actually down to do the verzuz from my house… we’re trying to figure it all out!!!”
Ashanti also appeared on an IG Live briefly joined by Cole, who urged her to prioritize her health and focus on getting better.

“… All our fans, collectively, are excited …” Cole said. “I think that we’re going to bring it right back. We’re going to do it for the ladies … We’re going to make it a good time. We’re going to make it a moment. So it’s all good.”
“I want you to enjoy your flowers. I want to enjoy my flowers.”
The singer-songwriter also shared on her Jan. 2 Instagram post that she celebrated bringing in the New Year at home for the first time in 10 years.
“This is the first time in over a decade I actually spent New Year’s Eve/ The New Year at home,” she captioned in an IG video. “t has shown me that your life literally can change in the blink of an eye… with all of the negativity surrounding 2020 it’s also important to celebrate the positive things.. I always try to find the lesson in the “let down”.. and learn from it. All positive vibrations ✨ #202WON HNY🎉”
Verzuz rescheduled the highly anticipated faceoff between Ashanti and Keyshia Cole for Saturday Jan. 9 at 8 PM ET.
