Dr. Dre’s oldest daughter, LaTanya Young, has launched a GoFundMe page after reporting that she is homeless and delivering DoorDash. She has a goal of reaching $50,000 to ‘find a safe and stable home’.
According to The Daily Mail, the 38-year-old claims that she has been living in a car and hasn’t heard from Dr. Dre in 18 years. She says that she can only speak to him through his attorneys. To make ends meet, she has committed to taking on various gig economy jobs.
“I’ve been working in a warehouse and doing Uber Eats and DoorDash,” Young told Daily Mail. “My kids are staying with friends – they are not living in the car, it’s just me. I’m taking odd jobs just to make it now – I got paid $15 an hour as an assembler at the warehouse. I’m trying to keep my head above water. I’ve been in debt for a while.”
Dr. Dre’s Daughter Starts GoFundMe Page
LaTanya Young is the oldest daughter of Dr. Dre and Lisa Johnson.
Young’s financial woes immediately went viral after it was published by The Daily Mail on August 4. Some people were surprised that the daughter of an $800 million net worth producer was homeless. Others commented that it was not Dr. Dre’s responsibility to fund his adult daughter. Through it all, Young still says that she needs assistance to help her and her kids get on their feet.
“This fundraiser is to help Latanya and her four kids find a safe and stable home,” the GoFundMe description reads. “She is currently working at DoorDash to keep afloat and these funds will be deeply appreciated. Thank you so much.”
Young says that she hasn’t been able to afford an apartment in California despite taking on multiple side gigs. She recently moved from Nevada to California to gain access to higher paying job opportunities. Reports show that she is currently living in a rental vehicle in a suburb of Los Angeles.
“The car is a pretty penny,” Young told The Daily Mail. “It’s an SUV that costs $2,300 for three weeks and I only paid for one week. Sooner or later they are going to take the car.”
According to the GoFundMe page, the fundraiser was started on August 9. The page has raised more than $4,800 as of Sunday (August 15) evening.
