Solange Knowles Pens Touching Letter About ‘Phenomenal’ Son

Solange Knowles is a beloved style influencer, successful musician and savvy entrepreneur, but the title she holds most dear is that of mom to son Daniel Julez Smith Jr., 11.

The “Losing You” singer, who is in the midst of finishing up her album, shared on Instagram her hectic schedule as of late, and revealed just how hard it’s been to be away from her son for days at a time.

“[Eight] gigs, 8 studio sessions, 6 flights, in 2 weeks….but got to sleep in my bed for 2 nights. While I was home Julez pulled out my chair for me at lunch, said he’d sell his Nintendo so I could get a dress I loved when we went stopped by a store, and said he sees Chinese symbols when he listens to Alice Coltrane. He’s phenomenal and I’m in love with he and it’s really really hard to be away,” she wrote.

“I cried this morning because this is the longest we’ve been apart and my insides kind of split in half when I headed to the airport, but I’m working really really hard to finish this d**n album and so grateful to have his and my hubby’s support.”

So how does she cope? With a little humor, of course. “At the end of all, just when I think I’m going to do something crazy like get a face tat or shave my eyebrows off, or spray paint my hands metallic silver and then do the home alone scream, so I have permanently have shiny handprints on my cheeks, my heart just explodes with gratitude….that this is my life,” she said, admitting that she couldn’t “be more grateful, humbled, and really, God honestly, blessed.”
