Spike Lee Narrates Campaign Ad For Ray McGuire

There are a crowded group of candidates looking to be the next mayor of New York City. Now, former Citigroup exec Ray McGuire has entered the race and he kicked it off with a campaign ad narrated by Spike Lee.

In the ad, Lee says, “The world has changed, my fearless New Yorkers. Twenty-four-thousand of our neighbors have died from Covid. A million of our sisters and brothers were thrown out of work.”

He also added, “We have an opportunity to rebuild and that starts with who’s leading our city.”

McGuire, 63, is seen running through an empty Times Square as the Oscar winner continues, “If we want to stop more and more jobs and small businesses from vanishing, we need a man who can think big.”

McGuire says in the video, “Some folks say New York City is done, but, to paraphrase the great Muhammad Ali, if you ever dream about beating New York City, you better wake up and apologize.”

The music in the ad is by jazz icon Wynton Marsalis.
