Tiffany Haddish is giving a hand up to foster care youth.
Through a partnership with Ready to Succeed, the actress and producer will launch an internship program in 2021 though her production company She Ready Productions, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“I believe that children that come from different cultures deserve a chance to work in the industry and I would like people that look like me to be able to represent me too in the industry,” Haddish said.
The youth selected for an internship will get more than a paycheck. They will receive mentorship and opportunities to work in a competitive industry that many say lacks inclusiveness. In addition to all of that, the interns will get a “suitcase” filled with resources.

Having a suitcase has special meaning for Haddish, who was in the foster care system before becoming homeless.
“I remember when I got my first suitcase, I felt like I was a traveler, like I had a purpose, like I’m a person,” she told David Letterman in a Netflix interview.
In 2018, Haddish’s She Ready Productions signed its first-look deal with HBO, according to Variety. It was a two-year deal following her acclaimed performance in the hit comedy film Girls Trip.
