Questlove Explores the Creativity of Food in New Book

Questlove is a drummer, late night bandleader, author and cultural icon, but for many decades he’s also had a not-so-secret passion for food. The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon drummer and one-time fried chicken joint owner announced on Tuesday that the follow-up to his 2013 best-selling memoir, Mo Beta Blues: The World According to Questlove, will be all about his culinary adventures.

The book, titled somethingtofoodabout: Exploring Creativity Through America’s Most Innovative Chefs, is not a cookbook per se (though, we may see a recipe or two within it), but rather a jaunt through food hotspots and profiles of chefs who give us a peek inside their creative processes. It elevates food beyond nourishment and simple pleasure to a complex source of innovation, creativity and history.

Written with his previous collaborator Ben Greenman, and with a foreword by Anthony Bourdain, somethingtofoodabout explores cuisine from Oregon to New York, and with special attention to the rising culinary scene of Questlove’s native Philadelphia.

While Quest is best-known for his musical talents, there are few celebrities we’d rather hear talk about the glory of food than him. somethingtofoodabout is scheduled to drop on April 12, 2016.
