Iman Suffers Another Terrible Loss After David Bowie's Death

Prayers up for Iman. Just two months after laying her husband David Bowie to rest, the Somali model is mourning the loss of her mother, Marian Abdulmajid.

“Saddened by the death of my mom Maryan Baadi,” she wrote, alongside a family photo with her parents on her wedding day. “May Allah grant her the highest jennah #ripmaryanbaadi.”

Entertainment Tonight reports that Iman’s mother passed away after an 18-month battle with cancer. “My mother was an activist, so was my father. They came from a generation of young Somalis who were actively involved in getting independence for Somalia in 1960,” she shared about her mother in The Guardian newspaper in 2014.

“She always said to me that there is nothing that the boys can do — because I had two brothers — that you can’t do, if not better,” she added.
