Lauryn Hill will release her first solo song in five years.
Sadly, no details have been revealed about the new track, except for the fact that it will be a part of the soundtrack to Melina Matsoukas and Lena Waithe’s new Bonnie and Clyde-inspired film Queen & Slim, which will also feature music from Vince Staples, Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, and more, according to Pitchfork.
Her last release was the 2014 single, “Black Rage (Sketch).” The powerful track was dedicated to activists in Ferguson, Missouri fighting for racial equality after the killing of Michael Brown.
Hill, formerly of 90s hip-hop trio The Fugees, made her official return to the music scene with a guest feature on Pusha T’s new 2019 track, “Coming Home.” The song was produced by Kanye West.
Queen & Slim: The Soundtrack will be released on November 15 via Motown Records.
