Felicity Huffman’s Co-Star Slams Her Short Jail Sentence

Felicity Huffman was controversially sentenced to 14 days in prison for her involvement in the college-admissions scandal, and one of her former Desperate Housewives co-stars is calling BS on her punishment.

Ricardo Antonio Chavira, who starred as Eva Longoria‘s character’s husband, Carlos Solis, on the ABC comedy-drama, publicly slammed the actress’ light sentence, adding that the slap on the wrist was simply a result of white privilege. Then he goes even further to say that he’s not surprised given his experience with Huffman.

“White Privilege. And I saw Eight years worth of it, so I know what I’m talking about,” Chavira, 48, tweeted on September 13, 2019: the day Huffman’s sentencing was announced. “Accountability and Responsibility don’t mean s**t to these people.”

In a second tweet, he continued, “I saw Eight years worth of it working on Housewives. I’ve seen a lifetime of it being a halfbreed, and I’ve struggled w the intricacies of it on a daily basis w all the cultural bias I’ve received on both ends. But whatever. Slap on the wrist. Sorry, but this s**t.”

Chavira’s comments were made in response to news that Huffman, 56, was sentenced to two weeks in prison during a September 13 court hearing. The actress is expected to begin her sentence on October 25. In addition to serving time, she must pay a $30,000 fine, complete one year of supervised release, and complete 250 hours of community service.

FBI agents arrested the Otherhood star at gunpoint back in March for paying $15,000 to illegally increase her 19-year-old daughter Sophia’s SAT scores. The actress intended on doing the same with her 17-year-old daughter, Georgia, but did not follow through.

She fully owned up to her actions in a statement released this past April, saying, “I am ashamed of the pain I have caused my daughter, my family, my friends, my colleagues and the educational community. I want to apologize to them and, especially, I want to apologize to the students who work hard every day to get into college, and to their parents who make tremendous sacrifices to support their children and do so honestly.”
