Kevin Hart announced recently that he’ll be walking down the aisle again on August 8. Right by his side during his nuptials to model Eniko Parrish will be his best man — his eight-year-old son Hendrix.
The actor revealed his choice for the honor to Howard Stern this week. “My son is my best friend, aged 8. My son will definitely be my best man,” he said. The actor also took a moment to reflect on fatherhood during the awww-inspiring revelation. He says that seeing his own father struggle with drug use made him a better parent to his own two kids.
“The way I look at it now, I’m such a great father because I don’t want to make the mistakes that my dad made,” he told Stern. “If my dad hadn’t been around and didn’t do drugs, I may be handling my success differently.”
Hart adds that he’s still in close contact with his dad, Henry Robert Witherspoon, and that he doesn’t hold a grudge for past mistakes — including a time, Hart recalled to Stern, that his dad stole $20 from his birthday money to buy drugs. “My dad’s fine now,” Kevin says. “I never lost touch, that’s my dad. I don’t give a s**t about his mistakes.”
Despite his tough childhood and losing his mother, Nancy Hart, to cancer, Hart says, “I wouldn’t change it one bit.”
We can always count on Kevin to have a great head on his shoulders when it comes to family, fame and success. Surely his dad will be right there in the front row to watch him get married. As for who else will be there, we can’t know for sure, because Hart refused to spill details on which of his A-list friends made the cut.
“I can’t disclose all that information [referring to the guest list]. I got a lot nice friends, [so it is] very top secret, very private. It’s going to be a good time,” he said.
If Kevin’s pal Gabrielle Union‘s wedding to Dwyane Wade is any indication, Hart and his crew know how to party. Watch a cute video of that wedding, including Hart’s touching speech, below.
