Jaden Smith‘s fashion sense is more of a public service. The actor and model, whose style leans decisively towards the androgynous, opens up about blazing a trail for more men to wear skirts in a new interview with Nylon.
Saying that he’s “willing to take most of the blows” to change society’s perception of men’s fashion, he adds, “The world is going to keep bashing me for whatever I do, and I’m going to keep not caring. I’m taking the brunt of it so that later on, my kids and the next generations of kids will all think that certain things are normal that weren’t expected before my time.”
“You just have to believe in yourself, you know,” he continued, explaining that his goal is to make sure that “in five years when a kid goes to school wearing a skirt, he won’t get beat up and kids won’t get mad at him.”
Jaden appears on the cover of Nylon in a lace high-neck blouse, applique denim jacket and his signature locs:
He’s also the face of Louis Vuitton’s latest womenswear campaign. (Yes, you read that correctly.) Get the scoop on that groundbreaking campaign with BET Breaks, above.
