According to Tiffany Haddish, her ex-husband apparently needs to do some better research before trying to sue her for defamation.
The lawyer representing the Girls Trip star said in a recent court filing in Los Angeles that her ex, William Stewart, failed to ask Haddish to “clarify, correct or retract,” alleged false statements made about him in her bestselling memoir, The Last Black Unicorn, TMZ reported Friday.
The host of this year’s MTV Movie and TV Awards, Haddish said in her filing that Stewart would have had to made those requests as required by law. Haddish said Stewart did reach out to express some concerns about the book, but he never specified what changes he wanted made to the book that came out in December, TMZ said.

The actress/comedian’s claim is the latest episode over what exactly took place during Haddish’s five-year marriage to Stewart, who filed a $1 million suit for defamation, libel and slander in May. In addition to suing Haddish, Stewart, an Army veteran, named the book’s co-author Tucker Max and publisher Simon Schuster as co-defendants.
“After a thorough review of the facts and evidence, we know that the assertions made by the defendants about my clients in ‘The Last Black Unicorn’ are patently untrue,” Stewart’s attorney Michael Stewart told TMZ shortly after the suit was filed.

Stewart’s dispute is mostly based on the chapter in the book titled, “The Ex-Husband,” Haddish, 38, said that throughout their marriage, she suffered domestic abuse at the hands of Stewart. She claimed that Stewart choked, kidnapped and stalked her.
The Last O.G. star also implied that Stewart’s abuse may have led to the miscarriage of their unborn child.
Stewart denied the allegations and said Haddish had an abortion.
