Tinashe Says She's a Loner Who's Never Been in Love

Tinashe may be R&B’s newest dream girl, but she’s more prone to Netflix and chill than hitting the red carpet or the club. Speaking to Nylon magazine, the 22-year-old describes the way she prefers to spend her downtime.

“I love being alone. I kind of prefer it,” she says. “People assume that I’m super outgoing and always want to hang out. But truth be told, outside of work, I would definitely rather be watching Netflix.”

All that time on the couch isn’t helping her love life either — and that’s just fine with her. Tinashe says, surprisingly, she’s never really experienced those fireworks, and she’s all but given up the quest for it. “I don’t feel like I’ve fully been in love,” she says. “Someone will break my heart… When you’re younger you think about love a lot, like, ‘I can’t wait to have a boyfriend. I can’t wait to be in love. I’m gonna write a bunch of songs about it.’ That was me.” She continues, “But that’s not my focus anymore. I find myself writing a lot more about being underestimated.”
