Tisha Campbell Recalls Being Sexually Assaulted As A Child

Actress Tisha Campbell is opening up about being sexually molested at only three years old.

During a preview clip of TV One’s UNCENSORED second season debut, the veteran starlet recalled how her male babysitter sexually abused her.

Campbell described how she felt “really numb, not physically, but numb spiritually.”

Her mother, Mona Campbell, responded to her daughter’s heartbreaking statement.

“When that happens to your child, that never, ever goes away,” she said.

Tisha continued the harrowing aftermath of her rape.

“I remember the next morning still kind of limping and I remember my dad saying, ‘What’s wrong with you? Why are you limping like that?’ And I said [the babysitter’s name] he put his thing inside me. And I knew that, ‘He’ll handle it. My dad will handle it.’”

The 50-year-old detailed how she told her father of the incident.

“I told. I told right away, right away I told. I had a father who was a big guy and I trusted that he would protect me. So I told my dad immediately, but it still affects you later on in life.”

The Oklahoma City native also addressed her sexual assault as a guest panelist on the The Daily Helpline TV back in 2014.

For the first time in front of a national audience, the mother of two explained her experience.

“The reason why I can absolutely say this to you without judgment or anything else, and this is the first time I ever said this on camera in front of millions, is that I, too, have been a victim of the same thing. When I was three, I was raped by an older person. Now I knew as a child I did nothing wrong and that this wasn’t my fault, but I found forgiveness in the guilt that I might’ve had.”

She also encouraged other victims of sexual assault.

“You can no longer be a victim, you have to be victorious at this point. You can’t play the victim because at this point, I’m not saying this to put you down or anything. What I’m saying is that he is winning, and you are allowing him to win,” the Martin actress proclaimed. “You are making a conscious decision to harm yourself, to hurt yourself and allow this person to still have dominion over your life. You can’t do that anymore.”

UNCENSORED: Tisha Campbell premieres on Sunday, October 6 at 9:00pm/8:00pm on TV One.
