Tyler Perry Son's Bad Behavior Caused Him To Break Down

Tyler Perry recently opened up about a painful moment he had while disciplining his toddler son, Aman, and the triggering effect it had on him.

During Monday’s (October 14) episode of The Real, the movie and television mogul recalled his son being rude to his nanny — an action that forced him to have a stern chat with him.

“I will tell you this one moment that was really hard for me. I had to discipline [Aman],” Perry said. “He was really rude to the nanny and he was in the bathroom arguing with her… I get down to his level and I’m talking to him and I said, ‘Listen, what are you doing? You don’t do this. This is unacceptable. You’re not going to disrespect her. You’re not going to disrespect your mom. You’re going to do what they say to do.'”

Perry added that the confrontation caused Aman to tear up, which, in turn, prompted the waterworks in him.

“And he’s just crying and he goes, ‘Yes, papa. Yes,'” he continued. “But as he’s crying and I’m down on his level, I’m trying to hold back my tears. I get up and I leave out of the room and he says, ‘Are you OK?'”

He then revealed that the exchange took him back to his own childhood where he felt like no one “talked to him like a person,” like he did with his son.

“No one talked to me like that when I was a five-year-old,” he said. “No one had a conversation with me. No one talked to me like a person. So here I am having an opportunity to heal my ‘little boy self’ by talking to my son like a person.”
