Oprah… Sticky.
Tyler Perry… Sticky.
Steve Jobs… Sticky.
Lizzo… Sticky.
Diddy… Sticky.
Ellen DeGeneres… Sticky.
Beyonce… Sticky.
Mark Zuckerburg… Sticky.
Michelle and Barack Obama… Sticky.
The list goes on and on.
Different platforms, same power of sticky!
One day someone asked me a very crucial and honest question. This young lady said: “There are so many things I want to do in life, and I don’t know where to start! I don’t even know what my purpose is. How do I find it?”
Who am I?
Why am I here?
What am I supposed to do?
How am I supposed to do it?
The most powerful questions a person could ask, but what if I told you that finding your “purpose” was not as hard as we make it? We look at the word purpose as something we go on a 10 year quest for … searching under rocks, climbing up mountains, and crossing over seas. We’re exhausting ourselves mentally, emotionally, and physically running after it. But, what if it was already on you?
What if I told you your purpose is actually the very thing that’s been sticking to you all along? Seriously!
In just one step, let’s get clear on what’s sticking to you now!
Right now, take out a piece of paper and write down everything you currently love to do, or would love to do! These words could be the areas of purpose or position that you desire to walk into and explore. These words could even be the areas of your life that have been set aside and seen as unattainable “fantasies” or goals. You may even be taken back to dreams you had as a child. List those. These words could deal with business, finance, fashion, management, consulting, construction, fitness, music, food, spiritual guidance, public speaking, etc.
Now, I want you to look at your list.
These are your doors. These are your opportunities.
While you are observing all of your doors, ask yourself:
“Which ones are naturally sticking to me right now in my life?”
These are not the ones you were told to do, taught to do, or influenced to do from when you were a child.
This has to be a pure moment, a now moment, a divine moment, with only your heart and your spirit speaking.
On a separate sheet of paper, list those very options that are sticking to you the most!
If you notice, your list of things will get smaller and smaller; and that’s OK. As a matter of fact, that is a great thing! This means you’re allowing all of the ideas and titles to fall away that does not stick with who you are and where you want to be right now.
Now, look at your doors and just…
“Pick it and stick it!”
In all my years of consulting and coaching, I realized people do not want the burden of making this decision. We’d rather be told what our purpose is, because subconsciously, we don’t want the burden and the fault to be ours. It’s much easier and less stressful. Hard truth. I know because I was one of them.
I was so afraid of picking the wrong door that I never picked any door. And both choices still led me to the same result. Nothing.
We have been granted the beautiful responsibility to discover what makes us tick and what makes us stick! Everyone on this planet has a “sticky”… everyone! Because of this, there will always be a gravitational pull to your purpose!
And, today, there are so many revolutionists to look up to. They took what made them sticky to gain the world’s attention. And when the world gravitated to them, they took their platform, stood firm and made one hell of a statement. The result? Their lives and legacies will forever be echoing throughout time.
From this moment I give you permission to dream! I give you permission to evolve! Find which items you begin to think on more than the others, the ones in which a lot of your attributes and abilities line up with, the ones you start to visualize and talk about the most, and the ones that make your heart jump at the possibility of it! I guarantee that as you move forward, the pieces of the puzzle will begin to fall into place.
Purpose is never found in the place where you feel comfort, but it’s in the place that feels right. It is in the place where you have peace, despite the fear.
And that is where you start. It’s as simple as that.
Pick it and Stick it!
Look at your list again. Girl, look at all of your stickiness! Look at all of the beautiful opportunities that have been with you all of this time. You have purpose all over you.
So now the juicy question is… which one are you going to Pick and Stick with first?
